Mark is our resident dabbler – he likes to try things on for size. His interests and off-the-charts curiosity have led him across and outside the country. If you ask Mark, he might say he’s a boomerang. An Indy resident for the third time, he’s also lived in Cincinnati, Chicago, Denver, and Italia. But he always comes back to the midwest – and we’re just glad he boomeranged back to Indy and over to SmallBox! Third time‘s a charm, right?
Like many SmallBoxers, Mark arrived with a colorful background. Most recently, he launched a pasta-making business, Cuoco Fresh Pasta (we’ve been asking him to make us noodles since day one), while also consulting with fellow small business leaders in Denver. Prior to that entrepreneurial venture, he worked for over a decade in higher education as both a fundraiser and administrator for international education programs (where he lived in the central Italian hilltown of Perugia!). Mark also earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management.
Mark volunteers for his undergraduate alma mater, Wabash College, serves as an advisory board member of Hayden's List, an online resource for LGBT-supportive businesses, as well as on the Board of Directors for ACE Preparatory Academy in Indianapolis.
When not SmallBoxing or volunteering, you’re likely to find Mark traveling (he has standby privileges), hosting friends, or eating out – it’s a social thing for him. In Indy, you’ll see Mark at Goose the Market, Tinker Street, or the Red Key. In another life, Mark thinks he’d either be a greeter somewhere (just saying Hi!) or a cookbook editor. But in this one, he’s genuinely Mark.
