Think Kit Prompt: Tickets, tickets! What (or who) did you shell out or stand-in-line for this year? Was it worth it? What made you wait in line, log-on early, or form a lifetime attachment?
On November 7th, 2015 I was thrilled to be able to check an item off of my bucket list — I had the opportunity to see the legendary Stevie Wonder perform.
Normally I prefer smaller, more intimate shows/venues — and am totally willing to go out of my way to do so (I’ve travelled as far as London to see an Ultravox reunion)! That said, there are still a few artists that I am willing to “bend the rules” for (i.e. an arena setting) in order to see them live, if at least once.
Case in point... Stevie Wonder. Wow. What. A. Show. There’s a reason that others use adjectives like legendary, genius, and impeccable when speaking of Stevie. The show was incredible from start to finish, no matter your seat.
Yeah, yeah… I get it. Why go to a show for an artist that hasn’t released anything new recently? After this last month? The losses the music world has suffered (Lemmy, Bowie, Fry)?
One has to realize (and recognize) that we need to make the most of the time we have.
We only live once after all.
The next time you are wavering whether to “go for it” when considering a pricey ticket purchase — my vote is: GO. Even if the show may not meet the expectations you’ve set, you will have the memory, and the bragging rights… with little regrets.
Now I’m curious. What/who makes your "ticket" bucket list?
