SmallBox's newest hire isn't all that new. As the better half to our CEO, Jeb Banner, Jenny Banner has been with SmallBox every step of the way for the past 11 years and now, as Jenny likens it to baseball and being called up to bat—she's finally stepping on the field! With Jenny's background in sales, HR and consulting, she's a natural fit as her major league skills align perfectly with SmallBox's core offerings.
We are excited to welcome Jenny to SmallBox as the Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Jenny will help refine our consulting and educational services, facilitate client sessions and workshops, and leverage her HR skills to enhance our employee experience design. Jenny will also spread the good word of SmallBox, so you might often find her popping up at local conferences and events sharing her wealth of knowledge.
As we do with all new hires, we put Jenny through the ringer, asking some hard hitting questions:
What is your favorite place in Indianapolis?
The IMA. We have a membership so we visit often. Springtime is the perfect time to visit and enjoy the flowers in bloom. The IMA has so much to offer from walking the beautiful grounds to putt-putt golf. I love that it's always reinventing itself and they've done some really great things to the campus.
What do you do in your spare time?
I do a lot of driving and carpooling. It can seem like a chore but for me, the surprising part about driving your kids around is that you have the best conversations. It is time well spent learning about their friends and what's going on in their life. It's a safe place for them.
What's the weirdest thing about you?
My alternate career plan was to be a hair stylist. I've always loved hair and make-up and I always wanted purple hair! About 6 months ago, I decided to finally give it a go at age 40+ and I'm keeping it.
What are you reading?
I've really taken to listening to books on Audible. I have a nerdy neuroscience loving side to me, currently I'm reading Now You See It: How the Brain Science of Attention Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Learn. It's great and really focuses on how online learning is changing our lives. I also love female comedians, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, it's great to hear their stories straight from the comedians' mouth.
Lightening Round: what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear these words?
Dance: Moves (I think I've got 'em)
Broad Ripple: History
