For a long time, when I imagined true freedom, I thought only about doing one thing.
Nothing. So, no things, I guess. The idea of being able to wake up when I want, go about my business as I please, and call it a day when it felt right just seemed to be the most wonderful thing I could imagine. Following no rules but my own, blazing my own path across America. Beholden to no man, and so forth.
One day I realized that I was a real jerk for thinking this way. Laws are in place for a reason, taxes pay for civilization, and those that only look out for themselves are (generally) left behind in the long run. I realized I wanted more for myself. I only get SO MUCH life after all and I've been lucky - I have had the fortune of going to college and finding a great job in the city I love. I wanted to help others. I want to pay it forward. I want to contribute to the culture of Indianapolis.
If I were free from the constraints of time and budget, I would spend all day writing, recording, releasing, and documenting music. Any music. I would record mine, I would record yours, we would record together. Forever.
It is never too late to rock. Rocking it forward.
