As the title suggests, I'm grateful for a year that has been not quite like any other. And I have two distinct parts of my life to thank for that.
Part one – my job at SmallBox. I'm grateful for the fact that I have a job that I find both challenging and fun. That I wake up every morning wanting to go to work. That I work with really cool, fun people – everyday is entertaining. That Beer Fridays are deemed acceptable. That I can put on my headphones and listen to music while working – that part is important.
Rewind to one year ago today, and I was working at a certain craft-y retail store, counting down the time until I could clock out. The fact that I get to spend the entire day with my family and not worry about disgruntled last minute Christmas shoppers is awesome.
Part two – my family. I'm sure this is on everyone's list of "what I'm grateful for this year," but it holds especially true for me. A few of my family members, myself included, experienced life changing events, both positive and negative, in 2012.
To name a couple, I moved to Indianapolis and my mom sold the home she'd been in for nearly 30 years. But no matter the event, I was reminded of how blessed I am to have a family that is loving, supportive, and always fun to be around.
And on that note, I'll get back to the Christmas cookies, last minute wrapping, and family fun.
